MINISTRY IN OUR MIDST: who’s there for the family who has more month than pay check, hungry children and empty cupboards? Who’s there when a senior, isolated and alone, needs companionship? Who helps a compulsive gambler gain control when their family is on the brink of financial and emotional ruin? Who mentors new parents on ways to nurture and care for their new baby?
The answer – Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota.
Today, during worship Bethany will host Will Bachmeier, a nationally certified Gambling Counselor with Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota. Mr. Bachmeier will tell us about people who have received help, healing and hope through our support of Lutheran Social Services and share ways we can continue to make a difference in the lives of people, close to home and across the state.

MERCI! TAKK! GRAIAS! DANKE! to all who have contributed to the LWR projects. 364 school kits, 132 layettes, two boxes of soap and 37 quilts were sent via Midwest Motor Express to the LWR warehouse in Minneapolis. Delores and Rodney Selfors put together and packed 233 school kits, plus gave us materials for 30 more. Lois Behrens, Betty Frantsvog and Mary Jordahl, plus some anonymous sewers, made the school kit bags. Thanks, too, to all who helped pack the kits, and to those who gave money which enabled us to fill the gaps in some kits. The BLCW purchased 40 dozen diapers and all were used, along with extras we bought. Thanks to Larry Roth and Charles Taft for taking all the boxes to Midwest, and also to the trucking company for transporting everything to the LWR warehouse, free. That saved us so much shipping cost.
If anyone would still like to take part in the Lutheran World Relief projects, you can donate money to help pay the cost of shipping the materials from Minneapolis. Put the money in an envelope marked LWR and place in the offering plate.
Again, many thanks to all! Sue Taft
